Preparations

Tomorrow, we start the drive up to Aberdeen for the beginning of the EPLC. It’s an early morning start, so Justine (my wife) and Phil (my PA) have started packing the car.

There’s a lot to go in. Not only my trike and the bike for the person riding with me, and all the usual stuff you would expect on a journey like this, but also my powered wheelchair, a spare manual wheelchair, charger etc, a shower chair…

The list goes on, and reveals not only what a mammoth logistical exercise this is, but also just how much extra kit is needed when traveling with a disabled person – particularly a wheelchair user like me.

Whilst we’ve been packing, Gina Harry arrived. Gina has been very kindly seconded to the Everything is Possible in Life Cycle campaign team by BT.

The ride hasn’t begun yet, but a considerable amount of PR has already been generated – Gina is proving to be invaluable.

So invaluable did I think she had become, that I’ve persuaded her to basically decamp to our offices while the ride is on and be here 24/7, so that she can provide continuous PR support and liaise with us on the road at all hours.
