Giving disabled people a voice

Giving disabled people a voice

I decided to start writing a blog (this is my first post) because I am acutely aware everywhere I go of being under-represented as a disabled person.

Disabled people just tend not to be seen around that much. You could say that this is a group that’s almost invisible – seldom seen out and about, playing a role in society.

Take for example, something as straightforward as going to a football match: although their intentions may be noble, my beloved Arsenal cannot cater for many people in my situation.

The number of disabled people who have season tickets at the Emirates doesn’t reflect the number of disabled people in the population. The same is true of Wembley. The same is true of Wimbledon. It’s the same story at every cinema and theatre I go to. Etc etc.

I’m writing this blog because I want to give disabled people a voice – a more audible voice that more accurately reflects the number out there.
